Bronwen Kruger

Hi! My name is Bronwen Kruger, when I am not in in the pool, I can be found in the classroom where I have been a pre-school teacher for twenty years. Swimming has been an important part of my life for the past thirteen years. As an Lts instructor, I have enjoyed working with a variety of different age groups and skill levels.

I have experience working with groups as well as one on one instruction when teaching children as well as adults. I am a certified first aider and learn to swim instructor. I am an outgoing and friendly person, who is full of energy and enthusiasm. As an instructor, I am nurturing and patient, but firm when needed.  I teach technique before speed and endurance, making sure that my students know survival skills, which I believe is crucial, before perfecting strokes so that they can be safe in the water.

I am very attentive, both detail and goal oriented. I take great pride in seeing my students succeed and I will strive to ensure that they reach their full potential. It is most rewarding for me as an instructor to see my student’s progress and ultimately assist the min achieving their goals. I am truly dedicated to ensuring that you receive a teaching experience of the highest quality. I am very excited to be part of the Sandton Seal swimming team this year and cannot wait to meet you all!

Jessica Parsons

My name is Jessica Parsons. I matriculated in 2020 and I am currently working for Sandton Seals Swimming as a learn to swim instructor. I am passionate about water sports , kids , reading and cooking. I did my learn to swim course in April of this year and have since become a qualified learn to swim instructor.

My course was very informative and I learnt so much about myself as a teacher as well as learning fun and effective teaching skills that I have brought forward into teaching my own classes. I have enjoyed teaching kids how to swim so much so that I have decided to go into teaching as a profession and I will be starting my studies in foundation phase teaching next year, doing part time learning so I can still keep teaching at the pool. Swimming has always played a big role in my life. I have been swimming ever since I can remember.

I come from a family of swimmers and so I was always in the water at the pool. My grandad competed in the 1956 Olympic Games and in the 1958 Commonwealth Games , where he won a bronze medal. I have also been in such awe of my grandad and he has been a big role model to me in my swimming career. My passion for competing came around the age of 9 years old which is when I started club swimming and competing in galas. When I was 11 I discovered my love for open water swimming and in December of 2014 at the age of 12 I swam my first Robben Island crossing. I did my next crossing a year later. I swam for my school up until matric and I also played water polo.

Before I started teaching I felt a bit lost on what my life path had install for me but since teaching little kids how to swim I found my passion for swimming again but I have also discovered my love for kids and teaching them. It has been such an amazing experience thus far and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
